Frenzeelo 2012: Year In Review

Well, it's that time of the year again. The time where people come together to remember all the great things that happened this year and where people will count down from 10 to 1. Since all the other blogs out there round up the great things that happened this year, I might as well do it for Frenzeelo too. Unlike my previous blogs, Frenzeelo is still alive from the beginning of the year all the way to the end of the year. And you know what, it is still going to continue going on strong in 2013. So below are the following list of all the great things that happened to Frenzeelo in the year 2012.

1. Frenzeelo was first launched on 8 January 2012

Frenzeelo started exactly on the 8th of January this year with the purpose of showing my readers to get out and explore Singapore. I started this blog because I love going around exploring Singapore and taking lots of photos with my smartphone. With a huge collection of photos in my phone, I might as well share some of them to the internet which then gave me the idea of Frenzeelo. It's the place where I show people the places I visited around Singapore. Unlike my previous blogs, Frenzeelo is a blog where I certainly enjoy writing the content. For my previous ones, the topics I chose were not really interesting. Plus, writing on Frenzeelo is certainly a great way to spend my free time whenever I have it.

2. Frenzeelo's first article: Changi City Point

On the day where I launched Frenzeelo was also the day when I wrote the very first article. The first article on Frenzeelo was about my adventures around Changi City Point. At that time, Changi City Point shopping mall was still quite new so I decided to write about it. Personally, I am not a big fan of huge shopping malls and majority of the time, I don't really feature them on Frenzeelo. However, Changi City Point is an exception due to the mall's stunning design and architecture and the wide range of 'outlet stores' available here. These stores provide customers apparel and shoes with deep discounts which makes it one of the go-to places for bargain shoppers. You can check out the very first Frenzeelo articles right over here.

3. Frenzeelo's first food article: Broaster Chicken @ NEX

This is the very first food article right here on Frenzeelo. Apart from taking pictures of the places I visit around Singapore, I also like to take pictures of food establishments and pictures of food whenever I try new kinds of food. So, that gave me an idea. Why don't I write about food reviews and review the different kinds of food establishments located around Singapore? I then started writing my very first food article which was about this fried chicken fast food restaurant at NEX shopping mall called Broaster Chicken. Unfortunately, this place has already closed down and it has since been replaced with another fast food outlet known as MOS burger. This article paved the way for a new category on Frenzeelo which is Frenzeelo Food where I review the various kinds of food found at various kinds of food establishments around Singapore. You can read the review of the now defunct food establishment right over here.

4. Frenzeelo's first events article: Circle Line Stage 4 and 5 Open House

Other than taking photos of places and food, I also took photos of the various public events I attended around Singapore. There are plenty of free events that are open to the public around Singapore. Some of them are interesting while some, not so much. I attended a handful amount of free public events every single year and since I take photos of the events, this also gave me another idea. The idea is to start writing a whole new category of articles related to public events around Singapore. The very first article on that category is this, the Circle Line Stage 4 and 5 Open House that took place on October in the year 2011. It was an awesome and fun event about the then-new MRT stations that were going to open with a barrage of fun events like balloon-sculpting and free concerts that were held at almost each MRT station on the 4th and 5th stages of the Circle Line. With this article, it paved the way for a whole new category on Frenzeelo which is Frenzeelo Events. You can read this article here.

5. The first major redesign of Frenzeelo

Back in April, I started doing a major redesign of Frenzeelo. When I first launched Frenzeelo, I used a pre-made template with minimal customisations. After being tired of the boring default template look, I decided to spruce up the blog by putting in a new background, banner, some sidebar banners and also, a new logo. Since it was my first attempt at redesigning a blog, I did not know that much about proper web design. The new design attracted a share of complaints ranging from extremely bright lime green background and a header image with an ugly pattern. So, I decided to do another major redesign which I will talk about later in this article. Sure, it may look ugly, but it still is a significant piece of history for Frenzeelo.

6. The launch of Frenzeelo TV

I am avid reader of different kinds of blogs. I read technology blogs, money blogs, smartphone blogs and so much more. I realised that majority of them actually produce a series of videos alongside their articles which they put on their YouTube channels. So I decided to do the same thing for Frenzeelo and created Frenzeelo TV in June of 2012. The very first episode was about the best rooftop gardens that are free to access in Singapore and the second was about all the great attractions in the Marina Bay area. However, after the cecond episode, Frenzeelo TV stopped production due to excessive time consumption and very very little views. For those of you who enjoyed my first two episodes, you do not have to worry as Frenzeelo TV will be relaunching in the January and February time frame with a whole new format.

7. The article with the most number of views: The Jurong Bird Park

Back in May, I visited the Jurong Bird Park with my family to enjoy the wonderful world of birds and their unique habitats. As usual, I took lots of photos during my trip to the Jurong Bird Park and I shared them along with my experiences right here on Frenzeelo. Nothing fancy here, right? The weird thing was that this article that I wrote back in the month of June garnered the most views out of all the articles that I have written in 2012. I'm not entirely sure which part of the article gathered the most attention but I do know that new readers keep visiting this post. I want to thank all of you who have made this post the most read article on Frenzeelo. You can read about the Jurong Bird Park right here.

8. The second most read article on Frenzeelo: Cakes at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Other than the Jurong Bird Park article that I previously mentioned, another post worth mentioning was the post on cakes that can be found at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf which is a popular cafe chain selling beverages and cakes. This post garnered the second most number of views out of all the posts on Frenzeelo. Initially this article was supposed to be the number one until the Jurong Bird Park article took it off the number one spot. Still, this post is worth mentioning. I am pretty sure the pictures of the delectable cakes made lots of people flock to this blog post and read it. Also, I'm pretty some of you readers drooled when reading this article which you can find here.

9. December 2012: The month with the most number of views

December is certainly a great month for Frenzeelo. In December of 2012, the total number of readers total up to more than 3000. That certainly is a milestone for Frenzeelo. A great one indeed. What's even more surprising is that I was so busy with redesigning the Frenzeelo blog and that I didn't write any new posts until the 29th but Frenzeelo still has loads of views. This is all thanks to all of you who contributed to the success of Frenzeelo.

10. Launch of the New Frenzeelo

Last but not least, a great thing to happen to Frenzeelo is the launch of the New Frenzeelo. Everything has been redesigned so everything is better-looking and easier to navigate for your own benefit. Furthermore, it's a great redesign for the start of the new year.

Final Thoughts

Even though Frenzeelo just started on January 2012, there was certainly a fair share of great moments that happened this year on Frenzeelo. Sure, there may be some ups and downs but Frenzeelo is still in its infancy. 2013 will be an even bigger year for Frenzeelo so don't forget to check out great new articles, the relaunch of Frenzeelo TV and so much more. I would like to wish you a very Happy Near Year 2013 and may all good things come to you (and Frenzeelo).
