All About Neon & UV Lights at the Sentosa Pop Up Nights 2017

Sentosa is quite well known for their relatively expensive attractions and rides. Occasionally, the island resort will also organise a variety of free events that are open to public. One example is the recently opened Sentosa Pop Up Nights located at the Imbiah Lookout, a well-known attraction in Sentosa Island. Here’s the inside story of this unique free event.

What is Sentosa Pop Up Nights 2017?

Sentosa Pop Up Nights 2017 is a free event and art gallery that showcases a variety of art installations with the help of Neon and UV lights. These special lights that were used allowed the art works to glow in the dark where even your own clothes or shoes may glow in the dark too depending on what you’re currently wearing. It’s totally free and it’s located at the Sentosa Imbiah Lookout which is also the place where you could find attractions like the Tiger Sky Tower and Sentosa Luge.

Beautiful Installations All Around

There were plenty of beautiful-looking art installations all around the Imbiah Lookout area and they glowed in the dark with the help of UV lights all around. Some of the installations even gave their own unique character with the neon lights that lit all around the installations. Lots of Instagram-worthy shots could be taken right here at the event.

Interactive Bicycle-Powered Installations

Some of the installations required the use of human energy to light up the artworks making it a very fun and interesting installation to work with. How it works? Just ride and pedal on the stationary bicycle and with enough power, you will be able to light up the installation. Once lit, the installation resembles that of an angel that’s going to soar and fly high. Pretty interesting installation indeed.

More Glow In the Dark Artworks

Can’t get enough of the glow-in-the-dark art works? Walk around and you will be able to discover more artworks that glow in the dark. Plenty of them were created by our very own local artists. With such a medium-scale event that will give enough exposure to tourists and visitors to the Imbiah Lookout section of Sentosa Island, the artists would definitely be proud of their works with the amount of exposure given.

Face Painting With UV Lights & A Free Concert

Walk along the path that leads you to the Tiger Sky Tower and you will find a stage where you could listen to wonderful live music and check out more glow in the dark art installations. At this area, you could also do some face painting with the help of UV paint which gives off that unique colourful UV looks if you’re into that sort of thing. There was a small food kiosk serving a variety of delicious fried snacks with an ice cold beer or Coca Cola.

Projection Mapping On the Merlion

The iconic Merlion at the Merlion Tower was also given a makeover...sort of. Every night until the end of December, a 3D projection mapping show will be held attracting the attention of hundreds of passers by. Since Christmas is coming, there were even some Christmas elements added into the show which fits with the overall Christmas festive season happening right now.

Conclusion

There were plenty of things to check out at the Sentosa Pop Up Nights 2017. The glow in the dark art works together with the interactive installations definitely made the event worth a visit. Couple that with the wonderful live music and the 3D projection mapping show at the Merlion and you’ve got yourself a Saturday well spent. As of writing, the event is still happening until the end of December but we highly recommend you to visit on a Saturday. Do let us know what you think of this great event.
