Sure there are many art installations in Singapore but why not take it up a notch by using sustainable light sources to create them. At iLight, there are plenty of such artworks and here are some highlights from the festival if you've missed them.

Experiencing Maritime At The Singapore Maritime Gallery

When it comes to maritime, many people would not be interested as they mostly find it a boring topic to talk about and it's not as interesting as other industries like finance, tech and so on. However, maritime supports us in many ways which is why there is the Singapore Maritime Gallery, a free gallery all about the maritime gallery. Here's what it's all about.

To celebrate their football innovations, Nike created an art gallery called Hypersense: The Art & Science of Football Innovation at the iconic Marina Bay Sands, particularly the ArtScience Museum, in May 2014. Out of curiosity, I decided to make a visit to the gallery as it was free and I was amazed by the various exhibits shown at the gallery. Memorable Moments During Celebrate December 2014

December is always considered a joyous month. There's Christmas, there's New Year celebrations on that last day of the month and there's also a wide array of performances and celebrations to end off the year. One of them is Celebrate December organised by the Esplanade Theatres. Since I've visited the 2013 edition of the event (which you can read here), I've decided to check out the 2014 version as well on the last week of the month. Now, let me share with you some of the great things I've experienced during the two-week long music festival.

Christmas and New Year in the Singapore City

December is a great time mainly because of two major festive events. There's Christmas on the 25th of December and New Year on 1st of January (fun starts on the 31st of December). December can also be considered the best month of the year simply because of the wide range of Christmas trees, decorations, events, open houses and New Year's preparations. On the last two weeks of December, I decided to roam Singapore's city to check out all the wonderful festivities that don't cost a lot of money. Here's what I found.

An Experiment: SMRT Bus Road Trip

I've always used public transport to get from one place to another and despite disruptions that happen from time to time, I find Singapore's public transport system successfully gets the job done for most of us. The public transport system (Bus and MRT) are mainly operated by two operators, SBS Transit (established in 1973 as the Singapore Bus Service) and SMRT (established in 1982 as Trans Island Bus Service or TIBS). As SBS Transit bus services are commonly seen in Singapore compared to SMRT bus services like in my estate, I wanted to challenge myself by travelling around the Singapore city using just SMRT buses and I call it the SMRT Bus Road Trip. Why? Because it's something that I've always wanted to do. Here's my experience of this so-called 'experiment'.

Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck

Did you know that in Singapore, there is a actually a big boat that's floating high in the sky? You may be thinking. Am I crazy or something? Well, no. The boat that I have just mentioned is actually the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. You have seen them in the tourist brochures, in websites and on TV. Just a few weeks ago, I actually went up the SkyPark to check out what the hype is all about and there's one word that I can say to describe the place: Magnificent. In this article, I will talk about my experience at the Sands SkyPark and why you should go there.

NTUC Income Kite Festival 2012

Kite flying has been a popular hobby back in the Kampung (village) days. Kids just love to fly kites outside their homes. Now, kite flying is still quite popular among Singaporeans and with modern technology, kites are increasingly more modern now with remote controlled kites and so much more. If you think kite flying is dead, well, think again. In September of 2012, I went to the NTUC Income Kite Festival 2012 organised by two organisations, NTUC Income, the insurance company and Act 3 International, an organisation dedicated to teaching people about drama. Kite flying enthusiasts from all over Asia came to Singapore for this festival to show their beautiful kites and their amazing kite flying skills in the beautiful Marina Bay area. If you have missed the event, not to worry, I will show you more about the Kite Festival below.

Farewell Carrefour Part 2: Suntec City Mall Outlet

Sorry for not updating for quite a while. My laptop was not really working that well but now, my laptop is working better now so I can start updating more often. Back to the topic, Carrefour announced its closure in late 2012 and the stores that used to be located at Suntec City Mall and Plaza Singapura have already closed down. After hearing the announcement, I decided to check out both Carrefour outlets and I will now share with you how Carrefour Suntec City Mall looked like before its official closure. I have written an article on the Plaza Singapura outlet previously which you can check it out here and for today's article, it will be about the outlet at Suntec City Mall also known as the first Carrefour outlet to be opened. Unlike Carrefour Plaza Singapura which opened in 2003, the Suntec City Mall outlet opened in 1997. Let us take a walkthrough of the store when it was still in operation.

Baybeats Music Festival 2012

I am sure there are quite a number of you who love listening to independent local bands. In fact, as Singaporeans, we all should support local bands because they put their hardwork and dedication for the benefit of entertaining audiences in their home country. I support local bands and that is why I attended Baybeats. Baybeats is a music festival that happened from the 29th June to 1st July organised by the Esplanade Theatres to showcase some of the best independent bands in Singapore. Some bands performing include Obedient Wives Club, The Great Spy Experiment and so much more. Now I am going to show you my experience at this awesome music-oriented event.

Wonderful Greenery at Gardens By The Bay

Previously, I have written a write-up of Gardens By The Bay when it was opened for a sneak preview in early January. I went to the preview in the middle of November last year and it was a great preview. Most parts of the garden still have not opened then. Now, Gardens By The Bay has fully opened to the public in 29 June at 6am and it is considered one of Singapore's newest public attractions. I went to the Gardens during the Youth Day holiday and man it was awesome. Now let me give you a run through of all the things I checked out at Gardens By The Bay.

Underground Shopping at Marina Bay Link Mall

You may have heard about CityLink Mall which is Singapore's first underground shopping mall. Opened in 2000 and located in the Marina Centre area, the CityLink Mall has a wide range of popular shops and food outlets. Plus, it's directly connected to two MRT stations which are City Hall MRT Station and Esplanade MRT Station. However, in today's post, I'll be talking more about the Marina Bay Link Mall which is one of the newest underground shopping malls and it's located in the Raffles Place and the Marina Bay area. The Marina Bay Link Mall is a competitor to CityLink Mall although the developers of the mall don't see it that way. Compared to its competitor, the Marina Bay Link Mall has fewer people and most of the shops found here can't be found in other places around Singapore. Furthermore, it mainly caters to the working people working there and it's directly connected to Raffles Place MRT Station and Downtown MRT Station (opens in 2013).

The F1 Pit Building

It's great that Singapore is the first country in the world to host the World's First Night Race. Every September since 2008, an interesting event will be taking place in Singapore known as The Singtel Singapore Grand Prix otherwise known as the F1 Night Race. The night race is an event where racing enthusiasts come together to witness and cheer for their favourite racing teams. It's also one of the biggest races in the world.
