10 Things I Love About My Trip To Pulau Ubin

Once in a while, I enjoy going out of urban Singapore and get in touch with nature and the quieter parts of Singapore. Sometimes, I head to the parks, sometimes I head to the beaches and sometimes, I head to Singapore's 'off-the-beaten' paths. Back in March 2014, me and a group of friends decided to take things to a higher level by heading to Pulau Ubin, a Singapore island which consists of Singapore's last kampongs (or villages) and has a rustic charm to it which represents how Singapore looks like back in the old days. In this article, I want to share with you 10 things I love about my trip to Pulau Ubin and hopefully, I can convince you to go to Pulau Ubin for a short getaway.

An Experiment: SMRT Bus Road Trip

I've always used public transport to get from one place to another and despite disruptions that happen from time to time, I find Singapore's public transport system successfully gets the job done for most of us. The public transport system (Bus and MRT) are mainly operated by two operators, SBS Transit (established in 1973 as the Singapore Bus Service) and SMRT (established in 1982 as Trans Island Bus Service or TIBS). As SBS Transit bus services are commonly seen in Singapore compared to SMRT bus services like in my estate, I wanted to challenge myself by travelling around the Singapore city using just SMRT buses and I call it the SMRT Bus Road Trip. Why? Because it's something that I've always wanted to do. Here's my experience of this so-called 'experiment'.

Unforgettable Moments at the Singapore Garden Festival 2014

Recently, I scored a free ticket to the Singapore Garden Festival that was held at Gardens By The Bay on the 16th of August. It's an annual show that showcases all kinds of beautiful floral and botany displays. Usually, it's held at the nearby Suntec Convention Centre but this year, they moved to the Gardens By The Bay's Flower Dome conservatory which suits the nature of the event. Don't worry if you missed the event as I have tons of photos and I'll share my experience of the Singapore Garden Festival right here. Scroll down to find out more.

Highlights of the 2014 National Day Parade

During the month of August, Singapore celebrated its 49th year of independence. As usual, a big birthday bash was held at the Marina Bay area to celebrate the wonderful occasion, and for the very first time, I finally scored tickets to the parade thanks to successful balloting. It's the first time I attended the National Day Parade [NDP] (Not including the Primary 5 NE Show I attended few years back) and I can't wait to share with you all the awesome stuff that happened during the signature event.

Let me go through all of the changes we have gone through here on Frenzeelo and do give me your feedback as well.

Gardens By The Bay East - Frenzeelo TV (VIDEO)

Everybody has heard of Gardens By The Bay. I'm sure you have visited the place at least once, right? Well, did you know that Gardens By The Bay is made out of three gardens? One is called Bay South which is the main gardens and the biggest while another is called Bay Central which is still under construction and the other one, the one that opened first, is called Bay East. Gardens By The Bay East is a garden located nearer to the Tanjong Rhu area and features all sorts of great features and amenities like jogging tracks, ponds, great-looking shelters and a beautifully-designed visitors centre. It's a great place to spend your weekends away and it's also a great place to enjoy an unobstructed view of the city centre. Plus, the gardens itself is functional. Find out more in the latest episode of Frenzeelo TV, the show about the best of Singapore on video. Zoos in Singapore - Singapore Zoo

Previously, I have been to two zoos and even talked about them right here at Frenzeelo. They're the Jurong Bird Park and the recently published, River Safari. Now, I'm going to talk about the very first zoo in Singapore and also the very first one I have visited in my life which is the Singapore Zoo formerly known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens. In this article, I will talk about my experience at the Singapore Zoo when I visited the place in early January after my visit to the River Safari and I will also talk about the changes that took place since my last visit back in 2005.

Zoos in Singapore - River Safari

We all have heard of the three zoos in Singapore before like the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and the Jurong Bird Park, right? Now, there's a new zoo in town and it's called the River Safari. Despite it being called a 'river', it's actually not located in a river. It's at a reservoir. Technically, it's a new zoo modelled after famous rivers from around the world and it's located right in between the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari and it's also right inside the Upper Seletar Reservoir. A wide array of wildlife and fun attractions are available as well such as the Amazon River Quest, Giant Panda Forest, Amazon Flooded Rainforest and so much more. Below are details on what this new zoo is all about and what you should expect when you visit this remarkable place. Just to let you know, when I mention the word 'zoo' in this article, I am mainly referring to the River Safari.

Celebrate December 2013 at the Esplanade

December is commonly known as the last month of the year. It's also the month where a lot of people will be preparing for the year end festivities like Christmas and the month where everyone will be scrambling to write down New Year goals and prepare for the New Year. Since a lot of public places in Singapore commemorate the December year end festivities with various events, I have decided to check out one of the events to celebrate the year end as well. I went to the Esplanade Theatres the day after Christmas and checked out this event called Celebrate December. Want to know what it's all about? Scroll down below or click Read More.
