New Heights At Skyville@Dawson

From simple affordable public housing to the addition of new modern features and technologies, HDB (Housing & Development Board) estates have evolved since its inception in the 1960s. One particular HDB estate, known as the Skyville@Dawson in the Queenstown district, definitely suits the position of an ultra modern estate soaring at 47 floors. Here's more on this wonderful unique-looking HDB flat.

What is the Skyville@Dawson?

The Skyville@Dawson is a HDB estate located at Dawson in the historical district of Queenstown, which is also home to the first HDB flats built in the 1960s. It's one of the tallest HDB flats in Singapore at 47 floors and features a rooftop garden and "sky gardens" for residents to hang out and visitors to soak in the lovely views.

The Skyville@Dawson's Rooftop Garden & Views

As mentioned, the Skyville@Dawson is 47 floors high. It's almost as high as Singapore's tallest public housing estate, the 50-storey Pinnacle@Duxton. The rooftop garden at level 47 offers great views of the Queenstown district and in a distance, views of Singapore's city skyline which was a definitely a sight to behold. Accessing the 47th floor is easy, just head over to any of the lifts on the first level and make your way up to the roof.

Fully Furnished Rooftop Garden

Apart from the amazing sky views of the Queenstown district and Singapore's city skyline, the rooftop garden is also fully furnished with furniture like tables and chairs. There's also a myriad of lovely plants and trees giving off that "green" vibe and a jogging track, perfect for residents who want to keep fit. It's designed this way to give residents a chance to hang out with each other easily and to fit with the theme of housing in a garden.

Skyville@Dawson's Sky Gardens

Apart from the rooftop garden, the Skyville@Dawson also has several open air 'sky gardens' at some of the levels. It's fully furnished just like the rooftop but the views may differ due to its lower heights. It's perfect for residents to hang out at these common spaces instead of going all the way up to the rooftop.

Amenities of the Skyville@Dawson

Like other HDB estates, Skyville@Dawson has its fair share of amenities like a supermarket, coffeeshop and retail stores on the ground floor catering to the residents. Other amenities include a playground and a multi-storey carpark which are common among HDB estates as well to accommodate children and car-toting residents.

Accessibility

Although the Skyville@Dawson is an amazing estate, its accessibility can be improved. For now, there are two bus services serving residents which are bus service 32 and 122. Although the nearest MRT station is Queenstown MRT Station, residents may have to transfer to these two bus services at either Redhill or Tiong Bahru MRT Stations which is quite a distance. Hopefully, accessibility can be improved in years to come.

Differences Between Skyville@Dawson and Pinnacle@Duxton

Some of you may find that the Skyville@Dawson estate may be similar to another development nearby known as the Pinnacle@Duxton. Despite some similarities like the addition of a rooftop garden and it's sky high levels, the Skyville@Dawson is slightly shorter at 47 floors compared to 50 floors at the Pinnacle@Duxton. There's also no admission fee at the Skyville@Dawson just to access the rooftop.

Another difference is that the Pinnacle@Duxton is located within Singapore's fancy Central Business District compared to the Queenstown district for the Skyville@Dawson so the rooftop views are completely different. Both do have their pros and cons so it's up to you to decide.

Conclusion

The Skyville@Dawson was definitely a great HDB estate to explore with its amazing views and lovely architecture. It's also one of the most sought after HDB estates in central Singapore (apart from the Pinnacle@Duxton). Visited the Skyville@Dawson recently? Let us know in the comments below!
